Druids Glen Golf Course
Located in Kent, Druids Glen follows in the tradition of many of the newer courses recently built in Washington. In other words, it is beautifully maintained, challenging and very scenic.
Druids Glen winds its way through natural marshes and woodlands complete with wild flowers and sweeping views of Mt. Rainier. On the day we played two deer wandered out of the trees 15 feet in front of us. We had to literally wait for the deer to “play through”!
As for the course itself, I’d rank it as one of the top handful of public courses in the state right now. It’s definitely challenging but four different sets of tees make it playable for all skill levels. The layout of each hole is different and unique which isn’t the case with many public courses. Water comes into play on
several holes including forced carries on three of the four par 3’s. Fairway and greenside bunkers are also common and if you haven’t played Druids before, you’ll need to negotiate these. Another aspect of the layout that I like involves the many risk/reward decisions one is forced to make. If you get greedy and make a good shot, scoring opportunities abound. If you get greedy and miss, Druids Glen can eat you for lunch. A little free advice for what it’s worth.
All in all, Druids Glen is a fine layout. If you enjoy challenging golf on a well-kept course set in postcard surroundings, look no further. For further information and tee times call: 253-638-1200 or visit druidsglengolf.com
