Homestead Farms Golf Club
Homestead Farms Golf Club is located 15-minutes North of downtown Bellingham in the rural community of Lynden - Homestead features 18-holes of fun and challenging golf.
The signature 18th hole at Homestead is the Northwest's only Par 5 with an approach shot to an island green. In the 2000 edition of Golf Digest, the course was given a “4 Star” rating among its “Places to Play.” With a par of 72, the course plays over 7200 yards from the tips, so it’s plenty of test. However there are three different sets of tees that play to 6500, 6000 and 5,735 yards respectively, so fear not.
The difficulty in this course, in my opinion, does not lie in its length as much as in its plethora of hazards. Fairway and green-side bunkers are a factor on every hole with water hazards thrown in for good measure on 15 of the 18 holes. Risk and reward is at the heart of most shot decisions and club selections. If your game leans toward greedy, this course is more than capable of changing your tune!
If you are a regular reader, you know that I am a big fan of scenery - From this perspective, Homestead Farms ranks high on my list. Sweeping views of Mt. Baker, the Cascade mountain range and the surrounding Nooksack Valley are ever-present. If you enjoy scenic golf courses, Homestead Farms delivers. It’s been my experience that the “little things” or attention to detail, can go a long way in creating an enjoyable golf experience. I’m happy to report that the “little things” are certainly not overlooked at Homestead. The course is well-marked and the scorecard provides lots of helpful tips for successfully negotiating each hole. The practice range and putting green are easily accessible from the parking lot and are located close to both the clubhouse and the 1st tee. A snack shack on the 1st tee and a heated restroom with drinking fountains and soda machine located between the 3rd green and 4th tee, add to the convenience - Visit them online at: Click Here
